    Toms Air Scoop

As per above. Looking for a mr2 mk1 aw11 toms air scoop.
I've looked all over the net and thought i'd struck gold from the USA, a company called Autobahn motorsport but they have just sent me an email to say they are no longer in stock and not getting anymore.

Linky above so you can see what i'm looking for. One last purge and if i have no luck finding one i will have to come up with another idea.

    Cheers

Sorry can you swap this to the wanted section, DOOOHHHH!

Have wanted a drivers side and passenger side scoop but haven't found any on the web for about 2 years it looks increasingly like make your own, or nik may be agreable to make some carbon ones that would be uber cool.

    Hi Tim.

I didn't realise these were so rare. I had alook around for you too and found none :(. I do have one and although it looks nice i think it has been proven somewhere that it does nothing for air flow, as air is dragged up from the ground at speed due to the way the roof drops off over the engine. The vacuum created meaning a gross movement of air upwards out of the engine bay and not downwards into it (which would be the functional aim of the scoop). Snow has the best idea here. I think making a friendly suggestion to Nik of the overwelming demand for said item :whistle:might be the way forward. A fibreglass paintable version or indeed carbon fibre like snow suggested would look awesome. One on each side

Yeah one on each side would be nice but the main one was the near side. Done alot of reading about if its worth it or not, Air flow being dragged from the bottom as you say, but i have purchased a CDA carbon filter and just wanted to ram it straight in to the scoop. Cold air straight in. If i can't find one will be asking how much one can be made for or just point the air filter downwards.

Yeah Tim i understand what you mean :). If it brings more air directly into or to the filter then that would be great. That was the thinking of the previous owner or my mk1.5 too. If it is going to cost lots to get done (to have them fabricated) then how about the mod paul woods does where he places an extra vent on the left hand side, in place of the fuel filler. Toffer has had the same mod done too.
Hope toffer doesn't mind me posting this link:

It's obviously unfinished in this pic but imagine the airflow over the filter there at speed :drool2:

How funny, i was thinking the same thing. Same vent as the off side but was thinking then where to put the fuel hose. Any pictures anyone.
Yeah if the scoop falls through that was plan b but would wait till i had my re-spray.

Yeah part of the mod is the relocation of the fuel filler cap ontop of the engine bay. Looks neat. Plus makes the car more symetrical with similar vents on both sides :)
